MortgageInfo.us explains mortgages in plain English for people who are buying their first home, thinking about a refinance, or wondering how to use the equity they have built. It is run by people who have spent their careers in mortgage lending, capital markets, and loan operations.

Our editorial standards

• Primary sources first. Rates come from the Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey. Loan limits come from FHFA and HUD. Rules come from the CFPB, HUD, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. We link to them.
• Honest dates. Every page shows when it was first published. If we update it, we show that date too.
• Trade-offs included. We explain when a product is a poor fit, not only when it helps.
• Corrections. If you spot an error, email hello@mortgageinfo.us. We fix confirmed errors and note the change.
